Vasquez has gone bye-bye, Andrew fought through another snicker. General, what do we do?
Im sorry, Andrew. I Hogarth paused, his Atlas twisting as though shaking its head, I have no orders for you right now.
Andrew held his tongue for a few moments, mostly to regain his own composure, and managed, Then trust me, General. Because I do.
I mustnt run away, the radio continued to crackle quietly with Vasquezs ranting.
Vasquez, Andrews voice was calm even as the Behemoths firepower pulverized his armor and shook his `Mech like a colossal rag doll. He let fly with his PPCs, not caring where or even if they hit, but continued with absolute sincerity. This ghost gets inside of you, turns you into some twisted monsterand hes going to destroy everything you know and love.
Andrew paused for a brief, melodramatic moment before adding, He killed Drake.
The Banshee shuddered as though it had been struck by a Gauss Rifle, its torso twisting back and forth as if the machine itself were searching for something. Its man-shaped head turned towards the distant Behemoth, cockpit glass glinting like a pair of sunglasses for a brief moment. With a roar (that would be added in post) the hydraulics holding the false head in place strained to torque the head upwards, making it appear as though the Banshee had opened a mouth the real `Mech simply didnt have.
It lurched forward with jerky, spider-like motions and Hogarths Atlas twisted to raise its left arm as though trying to recall his enraged subordinate. The arm moved as slowly as Thomas could manage, trying to give the Banshee the illusion of lightning speed as it crossed the ice and clambered up the low hill on which the Behemoth sat. With a colossal crash the Banshee plowed into the Locust that secretly made up the Behemoths left arm, tearing the arm from the `Mech and descending upon it like a starving man.
Hogarth! The Red Corsairs gruff voice filled the comms. Thomas Hogarth, I dont know what the hell you think youre doing coming here; but you wont even scratch that damned ghost without a PPC! Here!
The armless Battlemaster twisted, kicking out with its right foot to lob its rediscovered PPC at the distant Atlas. A flock of frost chickens scattered from directly beneath the weapon, apparently having taken cover there from the snow. The replica weapon was far lighter than the real thing but even then it didnt clear half the distance. Fortunately, the still active Wolf Trap was on the job, pressing a working weapon into the Atlass hand before retreating. Thomas twisted as though hed just caught the PPC perfectly, and raised the weapon in salute.
Thanks, Duchess. I owe you one.
To hell with that, the Red Corsair hissed, Im counting on you to save Skye. Dont screw this up!
